The Witch’s Memory (revisited) part nine

She would be sure to not disturb their slumber
Knowing a lone girl would be at the mercy of their number
Whether beasts large or small
In a multitude she was bound to fall
Tonight was not meant to see danger
Whether by creature or tall creepy stranger
There was a plant she did seek
Granted to bring a potion to its peak
She sought the petals of the Luna Bloom
Which blossomed when there was an air of gloom
When the full moon was high above the line of cloud
The sagging flower would stand erect and proud
In full bloom petals of white and green
Would illuminate the pistols of golden sheen
She’d gather the flowers and embrace their musk
As with mortar and pistol she’d grind them to dust
To give her potion that extra spice
Yes that would mame it oh so nice
She trotted off into the woods so deep
The further she went the more her heart did leap
The Luna Blossoms were calling to her
For that she would never deter
Her heart skipped a beat as the trees did curl
To keep the secrets they wished not to unfurl
Soon she came to a clearing
Her task’s end was nearing
Moonlight shone through the treetop canopy
Illuminating a beautiful sight to see
Standing alone against the dark
Its paleness making it rather stark
With the flower reaching up to the moon
The Luna Blossom would open soon
Watching the vision her heart did seize
When suddenly there was a rumble from the trees
It was a sound fierce and coarse
She didn’t need to know the source
Stone wolves were coming in a fearsome pack
It would not take much for them to attack
Whether bloodlust or actual hunger
There was no denying the amount of danger
She crawled back amongst the shadow
Not knowing which way to go
Her prize was sitting in her grasp
It wouldn’t take long for it to relapse
Back to its original form
Just a flower of the norm
Losing all of its magical property
And that she felt just could not be
The flower was going to bloom tonight
If not now it would be another thirty lights
She had to get it before the moon did fade
They laws of magic must be obeyed
Anger inside of her began to rise
When out of the darkness came creatures of great size
Stone wolves, skin grey and draped in moss
Stepped into the light giving them a luminescent gloss
They snapped and growled in dark savagery
Causing resting creatures in the forest to flee
Carefully she continued to crouch down
Making sure not to make a sound
For if she did the result would be grave
No matter how bold and brave
Stone wolves were hungry beasts
Always in search of their next feast
Getting rid of them was easier said than done
As you needed assistance from a burning sun
