The Witch’s Memory part 15 (recap)

What she said next would haunt her for days
For weeks, months, years, decades in many different ways
She would remember this moment with creeping dread
“I wish you were dead.”
As soon as she uttered the words she wished to reel them back
Hoping she’d be cut some slack
That she could apologize and set things straight
But at once she knew it was far too late
The treacherous words dwelling inside
Refused to stay hidden no matter how hard she tried
“I’m going to go” Jaspeak began
“This abuse I will not stand
Count your blessings if I choose to return
Know it was you who let this bridge burn”
At once both hot and cold
Although that part from the story would go untold
She stomped off not dating a second glance to take
For if she did she knew her heart would break
Jaspeak heard her father speak
The mere sound of his voice making her weak
She ran off without a word
Thinking this was all a bit absurd
This was the moment that would withstand time
To never be captured in prose or rhyme
When she abandoned her people for the sake of a boy
So why oh why did she feel this joy
This sense of peace and glorious calm
Feeling the electric prickle in her palm
This wealth of emotion bursting inside
All because her former self died
Now she had to rush to be with Roland
To be with someone who’d surely understand
What it was like to be so alone
Someone who could see what was inside shone
So she cast away her worries and her woe
Knowing where her heart needed to go
Jaspeak trekked through valley and mountain
She travelled through morning and nights dark as sin
Until she came to an unknown place
Nestled between two mountains as if they were giving it space
Her heart thundered as she knew
This was the home of the one she knew to be true
Roland the idiot who stumbled into her life
The one who was more than worth the strife
She found a cluster of trees for her to wait
For the boy, praying him not to be too late
The sun fell giving way to the moon
This burdening anticipation had to end soon
At last her wish was granted
As she peered beyond the trees where she was planted
She spotted Roland as he came shuffling in
When she saw him she broke out into a wide grin
“Here I am!” she had spoken
And at her voice his trance was broken
Now no smile came to greet his face
His eyes had lost their luster and grace
She asked “What does trouble you my dear?”
“I wish that you were still far from here”

The Witch’s Memory part 14 (recap)

She spotted Roland caught in the midst of trees
A feeling of joy travelled from her head to her knees
He offered a smile rather tired
Losing the charm and mystique she had admired
“Has something happened to you my dear?”
She asked not feigning her fear
“It’s nothing Jaspeak” He answered quite wry
“Just pondering things by and by
I enjoy our time together I truly fo
So it grieves me to ask something of you”
He went to her and took her by the hand
The pained look in his eyes too much to stand
“I don’t wish to place you in an awkward position
So please let me speak while you listen
These last few months have been bliss
All my life I’ve never been as happy as this
However it is I who puts myself at risk
As more and more creatures come as the air gets brisk
Perhaps you could come to my home
So I can show you how we roam”
Jaspeak was struck by his word
To her that option never occured
To come to him in the stead
And to her chagrin it filled her with dread
How would she manage to be gone a few days
Not to mention the questions it would raise
It wasn’t until now she considered how it was for him
As if he were able to drop his life for her at a whim
Never thought of how he made this trip
Her own ignorance stung her like a whip
The shame was a burden loading her shoulders down
Or like the pricking of a thorn laden crown
Her eyes became wet
She hoped this was not something she’d regret
“I will go upon our agreed date
And I’ll make sure not to be late”
She sang much higher than she meant
“You have seemed like an upstanding gent
It would be a shame not to see where you were reared
To raise someone like you it can’t be what’s feared
Perhaps I can sway the minds of those left in the past
And the uneasiness between our lands can cease at last”
Red heat tinted his face
So volatile in temperature it warmed the place
With it there was a tingle along her spine
She struggled to keep herself in line
For now though she showed him more wonders
Like the Roaring Rocks which always thunders
All the while the wisp followed along
Serenading her with a peculiar song
One of pain and overall warning
A haunting melody that would stick with her till morning
They said their goodbyes and Jaspeak was elated
A bubbling sensation while she waited
She plotted a trek for four to five days
How this could play out there were many ways
So consumed she was by this trip
That she could not see her father’s heart rip
As he worried about her well being
Of the daughter he knew, not the one he was seeing
The time came where she had to leave
Her bonds she was ready to cleave
It was midday and the sun was already high
In the mild air the birds did fly
Off to grand adventures somewhere deep south
Now the time has come for her to use her mouth
To speak untruths to her familial head
So confident before now her tongue was like lead
Her father was rolling out in the field
Wandering the crops he was yet to yeild

The Witch’s Memory part 9 (recap)

For now though the flame was but a kiss
As she hoped to catch the wolves amiss
The wolves, four in all, marched in on stony paw
A beautiful sight that would leave her in awe
She waited with bated breath
For the stone creatures of death
To cross her path of her fiery blast
And the time arose at last
She’d do her best to fire at their backs
Then something stopped her and her prey dead in their tracks
An arrow sliced the air colliding with a stone wolf’s snout
Causing it to turn about
Glowering deep with eyes of pure onyx
The perpetrator is where its eyes did fix
Up on a hill looking proud and heroic
Was a man standing stoic
He looked ridiculous against the black
An obvious amount of common sense he did lack
His clothes were bright and a tad obnoxious
They were brighter than his wits
A scarf covered half his face
One made with a steady hand and grace
And his eyes were a dazzling blue
One that showed his heroism through and through
“Go back from where you came
Or I’ll slaughter you all or leave you lame
This forest does not belong to thee
It is now under the ownership of me!”
Said the shadowy cloaked figure
Puffing out his chest several sizes bigger
The stone wolves thought nothing of the threat
They moved towards him to make him regret
Ever stepping into their hallowed land
Through snouts of stony teeth they’d make him understand
The man fired off a few more sharp shafts
Their effect was rather daft
Clacking off the stony hide
From this distance she felt the man’s waning pride
With the wolves distracted this was her chance
To snatch the plant and watch her power enhance
Jaspeak gave a groan of disgust
Knowing full well she needed to do what she must
Saving the day for this ridiculous clown
Hoping the moon didn’t begin its descent down
By the time she was done with this feat
So she could claim her prize so sweet
She crept up behind the beasts of stone
The fire on her fingertips having grown
Arrows continued to fly recklessly
Leaving Jaspeak to dodge two or three
She muttered her disdain to the night
While keeping the wolves within her sight
The cloaked figure backpedaled till he fell over in a heap
The wolves prepared themselves to leap
Jaspeak launched the crackling flame
Then shielded her eyes from the light which came
From the fiery orb burning bright as the sun
Once it was launched it couldn’t be undone

The Witch’s Memory part seventy eight

“It must be you,” said the princess with glee

“That I have been instructed to see

I met your kin outside these walls

Where the wilderness pleads its call

Your sister showed me things bordering the impossible

Sights that left me with a deep chill

I fall at your feet with gratitude

For your generosity is too much to exude”

With that she fell to her knees

And it seemed the world did freeze

All went still and quiet

The women turned toward the girl

And at that moment her world did swirl

The Witch’s Memory part seventy five

Further in the light continue to burn

Bringing her the freedom that she did yearn

Yet now she felt her heart stir

As she noticed a faint whisper

Starting off as delicate as a kiss

Booming into something impossible to miss

The sound was a haunting song

Pushing and pulling her right along

Three distinct voices, lithe and feminine

If she were to describe the beauty she couldn’t begin

She knew the end of her troubles with soon

As each note cause her heart to swoon

The Witch’s Memory part seventy four

She wore each mark like a badge of honor

Ready to embrace this new destiny thrust upon her

Deep into the woods she went

Onto the cave that she had been sent

A dark maw black as death

Chilled enough to steal her breath

She was ready to step in despite the lack of light

When fire erupted voluminous and bright

Torches lined the slick onyx wall

Seeming to take life from some unheard call

With a ginger foot one after the other

The princess felt there was no reason to dither

She let herself be free to roam

In this place that for the night would be home

The cave was made for a giant or two

Walls stretching high and deep deep blue

She was dazzled by the cave’s glory

Like walking into a captivating story

The Witch’s Memory part seventy three

There was no time to agree or not

This simple instruction was what she got

Before the witch turned to stardust

Disappearing in a slight gust

The princess felt her heart pound

What a piece of luck she had found

An answer to all her silent prayers

A letting-go of all of her cares

She took off in the direction she was told

Feeling brave and awfully bold

A new life was a day away

A glimpse of sun throughout the gray

The princess pushed through the bramble

Letting her skin take the gamble

Of cuts and rash and purple bruise

Subtle reminders that this was no ruse

The Witch’s Memory part seventy two

Give me one moon to conjure

A spell truly big and major

One that will be a blessing

One that will make your heart sing

I’ll need you to run way over yonder

Where you will get better from here on out

No more fussing or need to shout

Let the wind guide you where you need to go

Moon gilded lilies will start to show

The path that’ll keep you safe and sound

Once there you will not be found

For one night and will be well

Just one night and no more hell”

The Witch’s Memory part seventy one

The spell had dwindled to a flicker

To the princess’ surprise the air seemed thicker

Thick enough to chew and swallow

Without the magicthe world seemed hollow

It was a drug that she’d been given a taste

Leaving her tongue to fly with haste

“Whatever it is it’s yours to take

Any amount of gold to my days to wake

Your magic is power that much I can see

Of royal blood I don’t want to be

I trust in your skill and in you

Please do what you must do”

With this Jaspeak gave a grin

“Well well well where to begin

The Witch’s Memory part sixty nine

Soon the spell came to an end

Her eyes no longer had to fend

When they adjusted the princess could see

And what she saw left her with glee

It was as though the witch had captured sunshine

Leaving her in a garden of plants of varying size

The moon replaced with a glorious sun

A comparable sight there was none

And there stood Jaspeak a sight so beaming

Amongst the forestation gleaming

The princess was speechless in front of the woman

“That is but a taste of what I can summon

I assure you I am not about death and disease

If that is enough to put you at ease”
