NaNoWriMo Day 2

Inkslayer’s Journal Entry 2

The long trek to publication continues. This week I saw my first sketches for the cover to Beyond Here, and I’m beyond stoked.  This all wasn’t feeling real until I saw them.

With this being the first time I’m seeing sketches I’m debating on pushing back the publication date to the first week of June. When I’m thinking of this I don’t know if it’s my own fears talking or if I’m being rational. I don’t want the cover rushed, but I want it out in the world too…Ugh!

Oh well. Brief update today. Until mext time have a writeous day!

My Writing Week October 13th -20th

A new week begins on the day an explorer supposedly discovered America. Today also signals my first day back to work after my staycation. Ugh. I’d be lying if I said I missed this place. In fact if I learned anything on my break it’s that I’d LOVE to be a full-time writer. Oh my gosh, you guys! Why didn’t you tell me it would be so enjoyable?
Oh well. Last week I set the goal of 10000 new words, and I’m giddy to say that I met that goal! Squee! So now that I’m back to work my goal will go back to 5000. Cross your fingers that I can keep the momentum going.

Also on my break I started to post up snippets of works in progress on Instagram. Follow along @dfmatthews. Trust me if you put in dfmatthews on practically any social media site you’ll find me. Anyways I started posting teasers and the response has been very positive, gaining new followers and starting good conversations. So for that I am very happy.
I need to work on a new Halloween story. It’s been a tradition for a few years now. I nearly forgot it was October. LOL
At the moment I’m looking for a new book to read. Any suggestions out there for physical, ebook, or audiobook? Looking to branch out.
Uh oh. The bosses are looking at me strange. So until next time have a writeous day!

My Writing Week September 22nd – 28th

Hello again writeous minions! Have you ever wanted to call redos on an entire year? If you haven’t I’ll gladly bear the cross myself. 2014 has been a year of well…struggle. Physically, emotionally, financially. Just struggle after struggle, and it’s wearing me down.
The best thing I can say about it is I have been writing at a higher volume this year. This includes meeting my goal of five thousand new words last week. Cue the band and the obnoxious float! LOL
Truthfully I didn’t think it would happen as I’ve dealing with some things that I’ll address in another post, at a tbd time. By that I mean I’ll touch on it on Wednesday.
The goal this week is the same 5000 new words for Nytemares and Dreamscapes. Plan 100 and Roman Numerals (my bedtime story) may say The End this week too.
Usually I would post what I’m reading but I’ll say I’m wrapping up listening to Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith. I’m reading Born of Light by Danielle Carroll, which is an indie book from an Instagram friend, a sexy and fun ride. One of these days I have to link these books to the post. Grrr. Technology issues.
Also I’ve been reading a lot of graphic novels, most recently Y: The Last Man by Brian K. Vaughn, and Marvel’s Avengers Arena by Dennis Hopeless. Both are absolutely amazing! LOL
Well let me go. I have things, i.e. writing to do. Until next time have a writeous day!

Writing Quote Wednesday

Why do you write? Is it to tell a story burning inside you? Is it to turn a quick buck? Or maybe it’s because you read a story and said “I should tell it how it should have been written. All but the second have been and are me. But I’m curious about you. Don’t be afraid to share 🙂

Until next time have a writeous day!
